R’Bonney was the first Filipina-American to win Miss Texas USA and Miss Universe:

The first Filipina-American to win Miss Texas USA was R’Bonney. She said, “I’m getting messages on Instagram and basically social media from Filipina girls and ladies telling me they’re so delighted, they’re so happy. ” when questioned about the accolade in a Dec. 2021 interview. They are sobbing with happiness because they are motivated to pursue pageantry or anything, she continued. Like I’m clearing the way for them to pursue whatever it is that they desire. So it’s a privilege.

R’Bonney’s father moved to America from the Philippines with $20 in his pocket:

R’Bonney told ABC News’ affiliate in Houston in Oct. 2022, “My dad moved to America from the Philippines on a college scholarship with about $20 in his pocket. He wanted to pave a new life for himself. He met my mom in Texas, who is a country woman from Beaumont. I’m a very proud Filipina Texan.”

R’Bonney enjoys backpacking and hula-hooping in her free time:

From one early age, R’Bonney was clear about what she loved, and she pursued it. At the age of 15, the Miss Universe winner began sewing. R’Bonney claimed that she merely fell in love with sewing and adored making stuff out of fabrics and textiles. As according her bio, she spends her free time trekking, hula hooping, and reading when she is not creating eco-friendly apparel.

R’Bonney Interned For Famed Designer Nicole Miller After College :

After earning her degree from the University of Northern Texas, R’Bonney relocated to New York City. Fortunately, she was offered a fantastic position as Nicole Miller’s renowned internship. She discovered the benefits of making her personal costumes while working for Nicole Miller. She takes pride in designing each and every dress for interviews and rehearsals.

R’Bonney Created Eco-Friendly Fashion Designs:

According to R’Bonney’s bio, she is a “eco-friendly clothes designer, stitching teacher for victims of domestic abuse, artist teaching women business skills, and supporter of sustainability in the fashion industry.” She sewed her Miss Texas USA gown from a local thrift coat that she purchased and transformed into a gown.

She graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in fashion design:

Gabriel was born in Houston, Texas, to American mom Dana Walker and Filipino dad Remigio Bonzon “R. Bon” Gabriel. Her 3 older siblings are men. There at age of 25, her dad moved to Washington state from Manila, where he was born in the Philippines. Beaumont, Texas, is where her mom is from.  Gabriel earned a bachelor’s degree in fashion design with a concentration in fibres from the University of North Texas.   She now works as a supermodel and a creator of environmentally friendly apparel.

R’Bonney started joining pageants in 2020 when she joined Miss Kemah USA. After joining Miss Texas USA in 2021 and 2022, she won Miss USA 2022 which allowed her to represent her country in this year’s Miss Universe:

She is the CEO of her own fashion brand R’Bonney Nola which produces small-batch pieces using eco-friendly materials:

She is also a sewing instructor at Magpies & Peacocks which not only diverts textiles from landfills but helps survivors of trauma such as human trafficking and domestic violence:
