Work from Home? here’s how to stay Active and Exercise! (Top 9 tips)

With the current COVID-19 pandemic, many of us are now working from home/ Work from home. While this may seem like a blessing in disguise, it can also lead to a lack of physical activity due to sedentary hours spent at the computer. Fortunately, you don’t have to let your work from home routine get in the way of staying active and exercising. Whether you’re looking for full body workouts, quick exercises or something more creative, we’ve got some great tips on how to stay active and exercise while working from home!

Paradoxically, we may be seating more than ever these days because so many of us stay at home. Additionally, sitting all day can result in back and joint problems, as well as more serious issues like high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes. 

Even though doing out at home after work might be a crucial component of maintaining your health, it doesn’t completely cure the issue. Since our organs are built to motion, especially consistent training won’t be able to offset the sitting at your desk all day.

  1. First things first, set up an ergonomic workspace that supports your physical health. Invest in a good office chair with armrests and make sure itis adjustable so you can sit in it comfortably for extended periods of time. A standing desk is also a great option, as this allows you to move around more while working.
  2. Try to use a standing desk when you can. Try standing more often throughout the day if you don’t really have access to one at home, such as when you’re having lunch, talking on the phone, or participating in a teleconference. 
  3. Each hr, get up and take a little stroll, even if you can’t travel very far. Try using an alert to urge regular movement throughout the shift. Even just going over each room of your house might be beneficial.
  4. Use an isometric exercise at nighttime to get a little extra activity for the day rather of curling up on the couch to watch television.
  5. Give yourself praise for the actions you perform throughout the day. Wearing an activity tracker to monitor your progress may make sense if you set reasonable goals. Your level of activity will increase if you begin standing up more often and moving around your house.
  6. Staying physically active has many benefits beyond just improving your physical health.   8. If you really feel bored then play some music of your choice, play radio FM. Also, play with your dog/cat for couple minutes to free up your mind.
  9. Avoid sugary drinks and snacking throughout the day, this will help your body to keep your energy level at pick.

Working from home during this time doesn’t mean giving up off staying physically active – in fact it’s quite the opposite! Incorporating exercise into your work from home routine is a great way to boost productivity levels while taking care of your body simultaneously.
